How to Tame Your Mane with Plopping

When I first heard of “plopping”, it made me want to sit on my couch. Plopping is a method used by curly haired folk to get their coils to clump together or add definition to waves. Hair is in the midst of a curl revolution. Ringlet advocates seek styles and techniques that enhance without stressing fragile strands. The name sounds inappropriate, but plopping is a simple technique that produces frizz free tresses you can be proud of.

Step 1: Shampoo hair as usual and rinse. Apply either a Moisture Conditioner or a Hair Mask to hydrate hair. Rinse with cool water and squeeze excess water from the hair. Apply Whipped Mousse with Argan Oil from root to tip.

Step 2: Lay a t-shirt on a flat surface (like a table). Flip hair forward and allow it to rest on the surface.

Step 3: Twist the ends of the t-shirt to fit your head. Bring the twists to the back of your head and tie them together with a hair tie.

Step 4: Leave the t-shirt on for at least 20 minutes. Allow to air dry. Tip: To reduce frizz, do not touch hair until it is completely dry.

What hair types enjoy plopping?

Plopping seems best suited for wavy to coiled curls. While hair does not have to be super long, the ideal length is around the shoulder area.

Remember, moisturizing products are one of your curl’s best friends. Add Ovation’s Moisturizing Creme Rinse, Intensive Repair Hair Mask, and Whipped Mousse with Argan Oil to your styling arsenal. It’s time to let unruly hair know who’s boss!
